Southeast Idaho Fishing Report
In-Depth Fishing Report for The Snake River, Henry's Fork, South Fork of the Snake, Portneuf River as well as surrounding lakes and still waters of Southeast Idaho
Date 4/15/2025
Snake Below American Falls Reservoir:
Flows are starting to rise as they prepare for summer flows. Currently sitting at 4076CFS and the reservoir is at 97% full. Should see the flow continue to rise weekly as temps rise. Fishing is still very good with balanced leeches, caddis nymphs, and worms. Flows will be close to 9500cfs by this time next week.
South Fork Snake River :
Flows out of the dam are sitting around 6940CFS and the reservoir is at 77%. Water is on the rise as we get set for summer flow. Fishing has been on and off with the cfs bumps. Throwing streamers and heavy nymph rigs are best practice until flows level out.
Henrys Fork:
Fishing has been solid on the lower river around Ashton. River conditions are solid and the fish are happy. Nymph fishing is still the name of the game but seeing bwo action and the stone nymphs should be on the crawl soon.
Portneuf:
The river is starting to see runoff like conditions. Water is off color but fishing the edges with streamers or nymphing with worms paired with smaller bugs has been producing a few.
Bear River below Oneida:
Water is off color and flows have been up and down. Similar to the portneuf you should fish the edges with darker streamer patterns.
Still waters & Lakes: Ice off is here! Our southern lakes have been fishing very well for the last week. Balanced leeches, scuds, and midge fished under vertical rigs have been lights out. Dragging leeches has also been producing some nice fish. Water temps over the next couple weeks should come up and look for some of the best fishing of the year.
