In-Depth Fishing Report for The Snake River, Henry's Fork, South Fork of the Snake, Portneuf River as well as surrounding lakes and still waters of Southeast Idaho

Date 5/15/2025

Snake Below American Falls Reservoir:

Flows are starting to rise as they prepare for summer flows. Currently sitting at 9500CFS and the reservoir is at 95% full. We are just about at summer flow and conditions are great. Water clarity and temp are perfect and the smallmouth fishing has been getting better and better. sink tips and streamer or deep indicator rigs with balanced leeches and streamers are the ticket.

South Fork Snake River :

Flows out of the dam are sitting around 14100CFS and the reservoir is at 75%. Water is big but fishing has been solid. Streamers in white/gold and olive have been productive along with nymph rigs set up with various euro style bugs. Rubber legs and worms are always solid for early season

Henrys Fork:

Fishing condition on the lower river are great. Tons of caddis, BWO, and PMD action happening throughout the day. Rubber leg fishing has been solid as the nymphs are crawling and just waiting for that magic water temp to hit. Keep this one on your hit list.

Portneuf:

River is in amazing shape for this time of year. Little bit of color but temps and flow are just right. Plenty of PMD and BWO action along with some caddis. Nymph fishing the deeper pools with scuds, beatis, and euro style bugs has been solid.

Bear River below Oneida:

Fishing has been solid but water has been up and down. Fish the seems with balanced leeches or large nymphs and swinging streamer in darker colors on the edges have been solid.

Still waters & Lakes: Our southern lakes have been fishing very well for the last week. Balanced leeches, scuds, and midge fished under vertical rigs have been lights out. Dragging leeches has also been producing some nice fish. Water temps are awesome and a lot of fish are being caught.
